Grade 2024 Cold Finished (CF) / T-351 Temper Aluminum is solution heat treated, cold worked, and naturally aged to a substantially stable condition, then stress relieved by stretching. Aluminum alloy 2024 provides an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, high fatigue resistance, and average machinability. The addition of copper to this alloy makes 2024 one of the strongest aluminum alloys, but it also is more susceptible to corrosion than most other aluminum alloys. This product is ductile in the annealed temper and can be heat-treated to high strength levels after forming. Due to its high strength to weight ratio, this material is widely used in aerospace applications to produce fittings, gears, shafts, bolts, nuts, pistons and other fastening devices. (UNS A92024)
