465 Solution Treated is a martensitic, premium-melted stainless steel alloy with a high concentration of nickel and chromium. This alloy is typically used for heat-treated parts requiring stress corrosion resistance, along with a combination of high strength and high toughness up to 800 F (427 C) with good ductility and strength in the transverse direction. This age-hardenable material has improved fabricability when compared to other alloys in this category. On top of that, it has excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking. If needed, it can achieve exceptional strength, toughness and stress corrosion cracking by aging it at a higher temperature for longer. It is known to have improved tensile strength and fracture toughness, which makes it an excellent choice for aerospace components that require these properties. Grade 465 is also commonly used in the medical industry, marine equipment, firearms, hand tools, and oil and gas drilling machines.
