A-286 Solution Treated is a nickel and iron-based austenitic superalloy. This alloy is useful for applications requiring high strength and corrosion resistance up to 1300F (704C), and for lower stress applications at higher temperatures. The mechanical properties of this material are developed by suitable solution annealing and precipitation hardening treatments. This alloy has excellent high temperature oxidation resistance and is designed to maximize creep and stress rupture properties, with some reduction in strength. A-286 Solution Treated steel can attain high strength levels when aged after cold work and has wide applications in high temperature fasteners, springs, jet engine components, offshore oil and gas turbines.
