A-286 Solution Treated is a nickel and iron-based austenitic superalloy. This alloy is useful for applications requiring high strength and corrosion resistance up to 1300F (704C) and for lower-stress applications at higher temperatures. The mechanical properties of this material are developed by suitable solution annealing and precipitation hardening treatments. This alloy has excellent high-temperature oxidation resistance and is designed to maximize creep and stress rupture properties, with some reduction in strength. A-286 Solution Treated steel can attain high strength levels when aged after cold work and has wide applications in high-temperature fasteners, springs, jet engine components, offshore oil and gas turbines.
